    José Tomás Román Martín was born on August 20, 1975 in Galapagar, Madrid. Son of Isabel and José Tomás, he is the eldest of four brothers. His grandfather Celestino Román was the responsible of his love for bullfighting, whom he had accompanied as a child to the bullring of Las Ventas (Madrid).
